This version of Robert Burns’s poems in the Albanian language was presented to the Mitchell Library by Irvine Burns Club, who had been presented with two copies by the author. Dhori Qiriazi expressed his feelings for Robert Burns on the title page ‘In admiration for my most beloved poet and the most sincere poet in the world’
Translation took the author 15 years and is the only translation in Albanian from the original Scots.
Mr Qiriazi is a graduate and has worked as a teacher. He began publishing verse and short stories in the late 1950s but after 1982 began to focus more on translation work.
